Tracey and Chris

I’m lovin’ some of these pics from Tracey and Chris‘s October wedding!! The ladies got ready at the Holiday Inn in Oakland (down the street from the University of Pittsburgh), where we celebrated into the night, and the ceremony itself was at the gorgeous St. Therese in Munhall. Tracey and Chris are sweet and outgoing, a pleasure to work with, and I had a wonderful time shooting them with Christina (Thanks for your help!!).

Enjoy a few of my favorites… starting of course with a detail shot! Love the ribbon flowing through the shoes πŸ™‚

How about this great flower girl moment?? Adorable.

I loved that Tracey’s veil flowed all the way out the bathroom door on this one…

And then off to St. Therese’s for the big event! Here’s a shot from the ceremony itself,

and then here are a couple from just afterward, of the happy newlyweds…

Then it was off to Schenley Plaza, in front of the Carnegie Library by the carousel. It was positively freezing, so we did a couple of running shots to keep warm. Love the emotion in this one! (Sorry it’s a bit tough to see in the smaller format!)

Once the bridesmaids and groomsmen were finished, it was just Tracey and Chris with me for a bit. I love love Tracey’s white peacoat! So smart!

And gotta love the anklet ties on those shoes…

How about this one for sass! I love it!!

We had some fun spinning around with that big veil…

…and then I let THEM have some fun off by the fence! πŸ˜€

I’d started some detail shots at the reception when Tracey’s wedding planner Sumer tracked me down to take a couple more photos of the newlyweds. Tracey spotted some fall foliage nearby so off we went! I’m a sucker for those yellow trees myself! πŸ™‚

And I had to toss in this next one because it so reminds me of a runaway bride! It was sooo cold, so as soon as we finished our mini-shoot on the street, off went the bride! πŸ˜€

Of course gotta share a reception pic or two. Love this entry shot!

And I’m a big fan of this cake (and the backdrop/lighting). They have a miniature of their dog Barli on top!! πŸ˜€

Gotta toss in this next one last. It’s one of my personal favorites from the session and seems to fit perfectly here. The sign they made is adorable!

Megan and Kevin

What an incredibly sweet couple! I really enjoyed photographing Megan and Kevin’s simple and classy wedding last week, with a traditional ceremony at St. Paul’s Cathedral, pictures at the Mellon Building on Fifth Avenue and then up on Mount Washington, before heading back to their reception back in Oakland’s Holiday Inn. In Megan’s own words, “We really want the day to be about Kevin and I and starting our new life together with the people who we are closest to. I tried to keep everything very classic, hence the black and white, but also bringing some color into it with the pink gerberas.” Well, you guys definitely achieved the personalized intimate occasion that you were going for!

I had such a tough time narrowing down the photos to share with you, so you get a special treat, extra pics. πŸ˜‰ Enjoy!

shoes

I loved that Megan repurchased the same shoes she had worn in a high school dance! Apparently they were THAT comfortable πŸ˜‰

dress

Yes, that last picture is a tribute to the Ohio State Buckeyes. Please do not boycott my blog for posting it! πŸ˜€ The garter was a special present for the groom Kevin, as he is an Ohio State grad. He even had the DJ play Hang On Sloopy at the reception.

(Followed by a We Are… Penn State! cheer from the PA guests, of course. πŸ˜‰ )

Loved the architecture in the stairs, and the line of girls walking down.

And while I was taking some shots of the groomsmen, the shuttle pulled up alongside. Of course I had to use that reflection!

And of course Megan, the beautiful bride, as she waits for the ceremony to begin…

Her brother escorted her down the aisle. Love the emotion in this next shot!

Of course I had to show off the gorgeous architecture of the church, in this image…

Then it was off to the Mellon Building for our first round of pictures. While I was lining up the bridal party, my assistant Torin captured this great intimate moment between the bride and groom!

Megan and Kevin had chosen to do their engagement session at the same location, so it was old hat for these guys πŸ˜‰

Up on Mount Washington we got as many photos as we could, before heading to the reception. Here are a few of my favorites…

I think this next one might be my favorite from the day! Just so romantic!

Just a couple of reception images… During the dollar dance, the bridal party donned matching sunglasses and handed out shots to all the guests. I positively LOVE everything about this next image! The perspective, the glasses on the bridesmaids, the guest’s sassy look at the camera. πŸ˜€ I couldn’t have planned it better!

reception

I loved how Megan’s mom removed her veil as the dollar dance wrapped up, and then all the guests swarmed the floor cheering loudly… it was like loving chaos!! And Megan in the center was held protectively by her brother and mother. Such a great moment.

And of course gotta share a ring shot! Megan and Kevin gave their guests little tins of personalized M&M’s as a favor. Perfect opportunity for the rings!

Megan and Allyn

Megan and Allyn married on July 11 at the Carnegie Museum in Oakland, then celebrated afterward with their friends and family in the Carnegie Music Hall Ballroom. What a gorgeous couple and a beautiful wedding!! I’m going to let the pictures speak for themselves here. πŸ™‚ Megan and Allyn return from St. Lucia on July 23, and the full gallery of their wedding day photos will be released at that time for their friends and family to enjoy. In the mean time, enjoy a sneak peek!

I also want to recognize Christina Montemurro, who acted as my second shooter for the day. She did a wonderful job and I’m looking forward to working with her again!

The big day started off at the Wyndham in Oakland where the whole bridal party dressed…

Al gave Megan a romantic note along with a beautiful infinity necklace packaged in every woman’s favorite robin’s egg blue box. πŸ˜‰

In this next pic, I loved the hand holding a bobby pin off to the side! πŸ™‚

Meg and Al had their “First Look” in the bridal suite, seeing each other for the first time. It is one of the greatest privileges I have to witness the bride and groom’s first moment together. I love the reverence with which Megan was touching her groom’s lips here.

These guys took the time to savor the moment. A smart decision, considering they’d be surrounded by family and friends nonstop for the rest of the day!

Meg really wanted some pictures on top of Mount Washington, overlooking the city. Since the rain seemed to be holding off, we decided to try it out. Unfortunately we hadn’t anticipated the wind!! After grabbing some pics of the guys, we decided to head for shelter back at the museum and photograph the bridesmaids there.

(Which was A-ok with me, considering the endless possibilities for elegant images in the museum!) πŸ™‚

Unfortunately because of our late start and botched time at Mount Washington, we weren’t left with much time for photographs of Meg and Al. But 10 minutes is 10 minutes, and these guys were troopers, flying through the museum as quickly as possible! We were still able to grab a couple of pics in Meg’s favorite room, the Hall of Sculpture.

Since there was an art exhibit in the room at the moment, we grabbed a quick shot there, as well!

The wall of color is a sharp backdrop for romantic images. We grabbed a few here before the insane heat through the window started to melt us all. πŸ™‚

Luckily a beautiful large yellow painting was in the shade, nice and cool for a couple of quick snaps!

And then it was time to exchange vows! This handsome couple chose to marry in the museum’s Hall of Architecture. It was a gorgeous backdrop for such a romantic moment!

And of course I can’t blog about a wedding without sharing a couple of dancing pics… πŸ˜‰

Congratulations to you both on your marriage, and on creating such an elegant, romantic affair! I wish you the best with everything.

Friends and family of the bride and groom can access all of the images from the wedding here, after Meg and Al return from their honeymoon on July 23. Keep in mind that all prints will be HALF OFF for the first week (through July 30). You will see the discounted rates directly in the price list online when you attempt to buy an individual image. (So the reduced rates will be immediate- not just applied when you check out.) The promotion will last 1 week, in this case until July 30, at which point the prices will revert to the normal rates.

Megan and Kevin – an engagement session!

Megan and Kevin met me in Oakland for their engagement session earlier this week. What a sweet couple! We had a great time frolicking around the Cathedral of Learning before heading over to the Mellon Institute. I’m really looking forward to shooting your wedding this fall!

Per the bride and groom’s request, many of the images are in sepia or black and white. I love it when a client shows a preference for this toning, since I’m a huge black and white fan myself! I think it really wipes out distractions and brings the focus in to the couple. And to the lighting, of course. πŸ˜‰

Anyway, I picked a couple of my favorites to share with you. I really liked most of these shots because of the emotion that they show between these two…
